NOTE:

I tried the lot in a different neighborhood and found it had what looked like water in the basement after a certain depth. I looked online and found a comment that said different neighborhoods have different water table levels, like if they are closer to the water. I tried the same packaged lot in a new neighborhood created from the same blank neighborhood menu for creating a new neighborhood that I used to build the basement. I used CrystalSprings.sc4 and found it worked fine. A comment I read online said the appearance of water in the basement doesn't affect game play. But, I haven't tested that out yet. I picked CrystalSprings.sc4 because I liked the wooded area look. If you can't get the lot to work in a particular neighborhood, you might see if the characters reeact the same in game play, if you are into experimenting, or just bulldoze the lot and start over in a new neighborhood, either one you created new, or a different one already established. Apparently other people have had water in basements even for normal depth basements in some neighborhoods. I used a cheat code to get the game to ignore the usual limits on terrain when I built the basement. You usually can't go about ten floors deep and then start building upwards again as far as I know. I still have a limit of five floors for the basement, which leaves the top  basement floor about five floors below ground level. But, when I managed to get a connecting stairway to the bottom of the huge hole in the ground, it allowed me to hook the above ground to the lowest basement floor. I'm not sure if I could repeat the steps I took to build that basement and do it successfully again. Sometimes those connecting stairs don't want to hold still long enough to stretch the limits. Of course you can just remove the gate that leads to the basement stairs and Sims characters won't be able to go into the basement. Just the above ground portion alone is awesome. I am new at basements. I bought the video game; so, I own it now. So, I should be able to dig a hole all the way to China if I want to. And I should be able to add another five floors upward to the basement so it reaches ground level and the regular stair type or elevators can be used. That would give me ten basement floors and five above ground floors. And I should be able to add more floors to the above ground section. I hope I can find some new cheat codes that will allow me to do that. How can the video game police get by with telling me how big my house should be in any direction, when it's my own neighborhood, and it isn't even real property? It's fun anyway...

WARNING!

I just tested this packaged lot after downloading the file from my website to make sure the file was  downloading OK. I forgot to install a smoke detector on the bottom basement floor! About as dumb of a mistake as I could make for setting up a new lot. However, I just left to the neighborhood without saving the game. So, I was able to start over. I removed the stove, microwave, and toaster oven from the bottom basement floor to make sure there was nothing to start a fire. I also installed a smoke detector of course. They still can make cereal, instant meal, etc.; but, if they want to cook anything that requires a stove, microwave, or toaster oven they will have to go to the first above ground floor. I don't think the fire department would have had any problem getting to the basement bottom floor if I would have installed a smoke detector, as even cats and dogs can also navigate the long connecting stairs easily. Also, it seems that cats can run away from home. I don't know what you can do about that, or if they will return, as I have only created families with dogs before, never cats, although some of the default Sims 2 lots have cats. It is a very awesome lot to play. Just remember to add the smoke detector on the bottom basement floor. You might not need to eliminate the stove, microwave, or toaster oven, although it might save some trouble. You can use the packaged lot file again if you want to make duplicate lots. It really is a lot like the Grand Canyon...

BIG GREEN GLASS HOUSE
A packaged lot for the Sims 2 video game produced by myself on a Macbook Pro

This packaged lot was just finished today, March 10, 2017. It is completely untested. It is the basement posted on PAGE SIXTY FIVE of this website, with a five floor mansion built around it, on the remaining portion of the lot. I tested the basement packaged lot. I found it is fully usable; and, the characters navigate easily from above ground, down the long connecting stairs, all the way to the bottom floor, and then navigate up and down the floors of the basement using the elevator system. The only drawback I found was that once they are in the basement level, the camera view can not zoom in close, like you can from above ground. This seems to be a characteristic for basements in the Sims 2 game. So, I immediately set up a new test neighborhood, installed the packaged file after downloading it from my website, and built a new house starting with the basement. I added about everything you would ever want to buy in the Sims 2 catalog to the floors in the basement and to the above ground floors. I removed the ordinary stairs in the basement to save space, because the elevators work fine, although the long connecting stairs from ground level to the bottom floor of the basement still remains, and is the only way to travel between above ground and the basement. It reminds me of The Grand Canyon.  It is a glass house above ground, with the exterior enclosed in glass, to make all floors visible with walls up, leaving the center portion, above the basement, open, with a white picket fence on the sides where the basement is below. So, you can view the top above ground floor and the top basement floor at the same time. The basement floor that is visible corresponds to the floor that is selected for the above ground floors. If you select the bottom above ground floor, the bottom basement floor is exposed at the same time. If you go up or down a floor, the floor that is fully exposed changes in both the basement floor and the above ground floor. It is fully furnished and well lit for a family of eight with a cat or dog. You could have an entire neighborhood living in this BIG GREEN GLASS HOUSE if the game would allow it. The house now takes up the entire lot. It is fascinating to navigate from floor to floor both in the basement and above ground. If you are familiar with packaged lots in Sims 2, this is as awesome as a house can get, in my opinion. Check out the previous page for a description of how this project got started. I haven't tested the basement or this packaged lot on a PC yet. The basement works fine on a Mac. It is over a million in price. But, that is a steal for a Sims 2 mansion like this one.
